Circular business models in the semiconductor industry

Are you ready to shape the future of sustainability in high-tech?

Join the Circular Business Program Semicon (CBPS) and explore how circularity can transform the semiconductor industry — right here in the Brainport region, one of Europe’s most dynamic innovation hubs.

Together with Eindhoven Engine, ASML, Neways, and Fontys, we’re looking for enthusiastic students who want to dive into the intersection of business, sustainability, and technology.

Assignment

The semiconductor industry faces growing pressure to reduce its environmental footprint. In this assignment, you’ll help companies move from isolated pilots to real circular value chains. Think of challenges like:

  • How can businesses organize product returns, reuse, and recycling in a profitable way?
  • What new business models are needed to make circularity work across an entire supply chain?
  • How do you measure economic, ecological and social value at the same time?

You will work in a multidisciplinary environment with companies, researchers and fellow students. It’s a unique chance to gain hands-on experience, contribute to impactful innovation, and build your network in one of the most dynamic high-tech sectors in Europe.

As Eindhoven Engine, we approach these questions as wicked problems: issues that are complex, multi-actor and without simple solutions. That means you should be open to diving into complexity, collaborating across disciplines, and learning how to navigate uncertainty while still moving projects forward.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of or willingness to understand the semiconductor supply chain and network
  • Familiarity with company incentives and industry trends
  • Awareness of or interest in long-term environmental sustainability requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and propose unconventional solutions

Eager to pioneer an environmental friendly semiconductor supply chain? Your grasp of industry intricacies and inventive mindset are paramount.
