In the livable region, we aim for a sustainable and livable environment where everyone can live healthy and safely. To achieve this, we face several challenges, such as energy transition, healthy living, climate change and pollution control.
How can we reconcile the ambition to grow with a scarcity of resources? The announced scale jump in the Brainport region makes these challenges even greater and more complex. Using the strength of quadruple helix Eindhoven Engine is now exploring the best ways to tackle these challenges.

Video: Addressing poor air quality in Eindhoven
To address poor air quality, TNO and Zicht op Data are investigating when and where people in Eindhoven are most exposed. By combining data from the regional monitoring network with air quality models, they can pinpoint high-exposure areas and develop strategies to address them. This valuable information is crucial for the municipality of Eindhoven to understand the most significant impacts of air quality and improve the health of its residents.
Video: GENIUS 3.4 MWh battery reveal
On Monday 18 November 2024, some 180 people gathered in the Disruptor building at the TU/e campus to witness the reveal of the 3.4 MWh battery that is at the heart of the GENIUS project. The battery is key in an attempt to manage net congestion on the campus power grid.
