Towards a more inclusive society to raise awareness of basic skills gaps

In the Netherlands, 2.5 million people struggle daily with reading, writing, math, and digital skills, also called basic skills. These deficiencies make it difficult for them to fully participate in society, such as reading and understanding a letter or buying a train ticket, leading to various personal and societal problems.

Achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 demands urgent action! Therefore, we are honored to welcome Mark Boneschanscher, Managing Director at TU/e EIRES (Eindhoven Institute for Renewable Energy Systems), as he presents our current status and promising paths forward, emphasizing the crucial role of the manufacturing industry in shifting from energy as a commodity to energy devices as a commodity.

We must overhaul how we produce, transport, store, and use energy. This requires scalable technologies and an adaptive energy system. But we also face key challenges such as infrastructure upgrades, material shortages, financial investments, and cybersecurity risks. Do we need a more system-wide approach? How do we tackle these issues?
