Eindhoven Engine, simpl.energy, and TU/e EIRES collaborated on this initiative, which was supported by a subsidy from the Metropoolregio Eindhoven’s Stimulation Fund (MRE Stimuleringsfonds). The goal was to enhance the stability and efficiency of the energy grid in the region.
Sustainable energy solutions for Brainport
This project was a key part of this initiative, supported by MRE Stimuleringsfonds. It aimed to create sustainable energy solutions for Brainport, addressing unique challenges and contributing to the Dutch high-tech industry’s energy transition. The project sought to meet current energy demands and build a resilient, dynamic energy infrastructure for the future.
Expanding energy exchange
The partners explored how energy exchange at the campus level (such as in energy hubs) could be expanded for exchange between the campus and surrounding parties. Simpl.energy expanded its application architecture so that TU Eindhoven and surrounding parties can enter into a group contract or a capacity-restricting contract. Additionally, simpl.energy is CSP certified (Congestion Service Provider) to dispatch power. Eindhoven Engine established contacts with external parties and translated the experiences into input for a transition roadmap, and EIRES (TU/e) shared the knowledge with key stakeholders and users.
